Dawson City: A Very Nice Place We Would Like To Visit Again

Mining is a big part of life in The Yukon in the past and today as active mines continue to produce gold. Any tour includes running commentary that usually tags a mining reference or two along the way.  But to those not here hoping to strike it big, Dawson City is just a nice small town worth a visit.  In the process of exploring Holland America Line’s Alaska and Yukon land offerings, we found close local connections between tourism people and the cruise line.

It’s a tiny mining town that can serve as a wonderful getaway from reality place. Much of life here is unchanged from a century ago. Neighbors are friends and everyone has an understood respect for winter which can be harsh and difficult to live in.

On a walking tour with Canada Parks, we toured Dawson City and found a very nice place we would like to visit again.
