Brilliant: Babs Brings Bountiful Broadway Film Fest To Crystal

Sailing to the finish line right now, a full roster of Broadway and Hollywood experts, insiders and talents hit the stages and lounges of Crystal Symphony  for a Film & Theatre Festival sailing inspired by Barbra Streisand. Stage and screen veterans will come together for cabaret performances and musical riffs, while special events take guests behind the curtains for fascinating insights into the production process. All the while, shows and songs made famous by Streisand will take center stage. Leading Streisand tribute artist, Sharon Owens (not related), will take the stage as the diva herself, while industry producers, songwriters, musicians, costumers and photographers who have worked with the incomparable artist will share stories and anecdotes of their vast careers.

“The breadth of programming set for this sailing will truly impress any theater enthusiast, particularly fans of the grand Ms. Streisand. This is one of our most popular themes, and with good reason, as music and theater are a wonderful topic over which to bond with your fellow travelers,” says Crystal chairman, CEO and president, Edie Rodriguez.

Also on board, and I almost missed this: Tony®-nominated actress and family friend Lainie Kazan, who played a Ziegfeld showgirl during her tenure as Streisand’s understudy in Funny Girl on Broadway, will give entertaining presentations. Oscar®, Grammy® and Golden Globe®-nominated songwriters Allan Rich and Jud Friedman – both of whom have worked extensively with Streisand – will also share tales of scoring movies for the biggest stars on the silver screen. Red carpet stylists will offer their tips, costume designers will share their collections, and special screenings of Barbra Streisand’s hit films will show in the Hollywood Theatre.

The 19-day “Panama Canal Adventure” sailing departs Los Angeles for New York on April 30, 2017, calling in Puerto Vallarta and Huatulco, Mexico; San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua; Panama City, Panama (overnight); transits the Panama Canal; Cartagena, Colombia (overnight); and Charleston, South Carolina. All-inclusive fares begin at $5,995 per person.
