United Next Brings Most 787 Dreamliners

While other airlines make excuses about flight delays and cancellations, one airline is actually doing something about it. Boeing and United Airlines announced that United is expanding its 787 Dreamliner fleet by exercising options to order 50 787-9 airplanes and securing an additional 50 options. The new order takes United’s total Dreamliner orderbook to 150 firm orders, making it the largest Dreamliner customer in history.

United CEO Scott Kirby said that the new order is part of the airline’s “United Next” plan to modernize its fleet and improve the customer experience. He believes that the 787’s fuel efficiency and reliability will allow United to expand its global route network and offer its customers more options.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stan Deal said that United’s commitment to the 787 Dreamliner family is a testament to the airplane’s market-leading operating economics and reliability. He believes that the 787 will help United to create one of the most efficient and sustainable fleets in the skies.

The 787-9 is the largest version of the Dreamliner family, seating up to 296 passengers with a range of up to 7,565 nautical miles. That allows carriers to fly long-haul routes without refueling. The 787 is also known for its superior fuel efficiency, which can reduce fuel costs by up to 25% compared to older airplanes.

The 787 is the best-selling widebody airplane in history, with more than 1,800 orders from 87 customers. In the last year alone, customers have placed nearly 350 orders and commitments for the 787 family.

In addition to the economic and environmental benefits, the 787 also offers a number of advantages for passengers, including quieter cabins, larger windows, and more humidity. United has said that it plans to use the new Dreamliners to offer its customers a more premium flying experience.

Overall, United’s new order for 50 787-9s is a significant development for the airline and for the aviation industry as a whole. It is a sign that airlines are continuing to invest in fuel-efficient and sustainable aircraft, and that the Dreamliner is still the leading choice for long-haul travel.
