Caribbean Weather Updates

When extreme weather events affect Caribbean travel, the world of cruise vacations fares well.  When a hurricane cancels one traveler’s week at an all-inclusive island resort, the traveler who chose a cruise most often sails.  Most commonly, itineraries are reconfigured to allow travel, albeit perhaps not to the same places.  Cancellations are rare.  Still; before, during and after a major Caribbean weather event interest piques in a real way when our travel plans may be affected. We worry. Maybe too much. Still, let’s try to take some of the worries out of the process by clearly identifying rock-solid sources of accurate information to consider along the way from dreaming to doing.

The Cruise Lines Themselves

Visit all the message boards you have time for, read all the news possible, talk to your travel agent or some other source.  None are as accurate or count more than the cruise line website. This is where the official information about itinerary modifications or cancellations will appear.  This trumps any other source.  Our List, for your reference:

Individual Cruise Line Travel Alerts– check at the top of the front page on most affected cruise lines that sail in the Caribbean for the latest weather information:

Tip: Check multiple cruise lines to get a good overview of how they are all handing the weather event.  If no one is going to an island, it’s probably closed.
