Getting There: TSA Precheck Like Express Lane For Air Travelers

TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening program that enhances aviation security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals who volunteer to participate to expedite the travel experience.

TSA is partnering with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as U.S. air carriers as part of this initiative. Passengers that are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ include U.S. citizens of frequent flier programs who have been invited by a participating airline. Additionally, U.S. citizens who are members of a CBP Trusted Traveler program, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS and Canadian citizens who are members of NEXUS that are issued a Known Traveler Number qualify to participate. Passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA Pre✓™ lanes with eligible passengers.

The TSA Pre✓ program allows frequent fliers invited by their participating host airline, along with those enrolled in a Trusted Traveler Program, to speed through the airport screening process for domestic flights.

Odds are that if you qualify for the program through an airline, you already know about it. Those who don’t make it via airline invitation can back up to the Global Entry Program, pay the $100 for five years and enjoy the benefits.  That’s what I did.
