Crystal Cruises Back In Luxurious Business

A&K Travel Group has invested heavily in the refurbishment of Crystal Cruises two cruise ships that it acquired in 2022; Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. The company has spent $millions on the hardware and the refurbishments, which have included the addition of larger suites, new restaurants, and a multipurpose room. A&K believes that the investment is worthwhile, as the two ships have a loyal following and are well-suited to the luxury cruise market.

In addition to the refurbishments, A&K is also planning to expand the Crystal fleet with four newbuilds in six years. The first newbuild will be an expedition ship, which will be followed by a classic cruise ship. A&K is also planning to expand its shorex operations in South America, with the goal of offering fully integrated land and sea experiences to its customers.

  • The two ships were purchased for a combined total of $128m.
  • The refurbishments included the removal of the casinos on both ships.
  • A&K is planning to install casinos on both ships sometime next year.
  • The new expedition ship will be built to PC6 standards, which means that it will be able to operate in the Arctic and Antarctic.
  • The new classic cruise ship will be larger than the two refurbished ships.
  • A&K is also planning to buy and refurbish two small river cruise ships to operate in the Amazon and Magdalena rivers.
