We have not done one of these since way before the global pandemic began, which makes a good place to begin a series of timely posts about the rapidly evolving cruise industry. So here we go, just the meat with links to more from a variety of sources.

Carnival Cruise Line‘s Carnival Breeze returned to service this week, departing on a four-day cruise from Galveston. This sailing marks the restart of short cruises from that port. Carnival Breeze is the line’s third ship to resume service. Previously, sailings of Carnival Vista from Galveston and Carnival Horizon from Miami began earlier this month.

Viking Cruises has reached another milestone, floating out new Viking Mars (not to be confused with the Viking Mars mission to the red planet in 1971) is scheduled to begin service in early 2022. Sailing initially from in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, the 930-passenger ship will then move to service in Asia and Australia.

All-inclusive Atlas Ocean Voyages will offer six different dining options aboard new World Navigator. Not familiar with Atlas? It’s a luxury adventure expedition cruise line which sails to “remote and captivating destinations.”

Ultra luxury line Seabourn has opened a series of new itineraries for Seabourn Ovation sailing out of Miami between November 2021 and April 2022. The ship’s first-ever stop in a U.S. port will be on November 18, 2021. There will be breadsticks.
