Carnival Breakfast Honors Grand Bahama Leaders

Carnival Cruise Line and the Ministry of Grand Bahama hosted a Golden Jubilee Breakfast to celebrate the 50th Independence of The Bahamas. The event was attended by approximately 100 community members and honored present and former parliamentarians of Grand Bahama.

Prime Minister Philip Davis and Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey were among the distinguished leaders present at the celebration. Thirty-five Grand Bahama parliamentarians were also presented with awards to recognize their service.

The Golden Jubilee Breakfast took place as work continues to advance on the Carnival Grand Bahama cruise port destination. Representing an investment of $200 million, the port destination will offer guests a uniquely Bahamian experience with exciting features and amenities, including a one-mile stretch of white-sand beach, a nature reserve, and an interior pool feature, as well as Bahamian-operated retail, food and beverage options for Carnival guests to enjoy.

In her remarks, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy congratulated The Bahamas on its 50th Independence anniversary and expressed her company’s pride in having been operating in the country for over 50 years. She said that Carnival could not think of a better way to celebrate than with the Ministry of Grand Bahama as they work together to bring Carnival’s cruise port destination to life.

Minister Moxey, in her remarks, said that she was excited about the road ahead for Grand Bahama and that working with partners like Carnival, they were rebuilding the island’s economy and bringing new opportunities to its residents. She thanked Carnival for continuing to be a part of the community and for holding the anniversary celebration in Grand Bahama.
