This week we are at sea with Carnival Cruise Lines, on Carnival Breeze, sailing for 6 nights, round-trip Miami.  The occasion is a Cozumel concert with legendary rock band Styx, one of the Carnival LIVE concert series performances.  Preparing for this event was a fun job (dream come true?) for this fan of rock music who has rated Styx at the top of a very short list of artists that have endured over the years.  As mentioned in Carnival LIVE Rocks The Boat, 35 Years Later, when the idea of coming along on this unique itinerary came up, I had to jump right in. A favorite band from the 70’s and 80’s, this will be the 7th time I have seen Styx live.  But that’s just one night, what about the rest of the sailing?   This is where it gets interesting.

Now in progress, the Carnival LIVE concert series is a total of 49 performance dates offering Carnival guests the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive onboard performance. Choosing from headliners like 38 Special, Chicago, Daughtry, Foreigner, Gavin DeGraw, Jennifer Hudson, Jewel, Kansas and others, the series has proved popular and looks to be a big hit for Carnival Cruise Lines.

We’ll be there for a press conference with the band.  We’ll be on hand for a sound check before the performance and will thoroughly examine the Carnival LIVE experience.
