New Rail And Cruise Packages Let Travelers Disconnect, Relax

Our first experience rail and cruise travel was with Princess Cruises,  getting up close and personal with the Alaskan landscape on a Princess Cruisetour from Fairbanks to Vancouver.  Part of that journey included a ride on the Alaskan Railway in a high-domed rail car complete with breakfast and breathtaking views along the way.  Today we have information of a different kind of rail adventure, this one offering a Coastal Passage route, connecting Seattle to the Canadian Rockies.

Partnering With One Of The Best
The Rocky Mountaineer had partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line in 2014 that offered a variety of rail and cruise deals.  In 2015, the luxury train company is working with Holland America Line, co-king of Alaska (along with Princess Cruises) to offer even more options.  Combine your Canadian Rockies rail journey with an Alaskan cruise aboard Holland America Line’s ms Amsterdam, ms Noordamor ms Westerdam  to encounter world-class amenities, award-winning service, five-star dining and elegance at every turn. Disconnecting Might Be The Best Part, And Rocky Mountaineer Knows It
There is something to be said for a connectivity while traveling and cruise lines are working overtime to bring that anywhere ships sail. Still, Rocky Mountaineer’s view on the topic seems unique.  “In a world where we are constantly connected, it is ironic that we are not necessarily connecting with the most important people in our lives, including ourselves,” says the luxury train company on their website, adding  “The train travels through some of the most remote areas in Western Canada, giving travellers a chance to unplug from the grid and to take the time to recharge mentally and spiritually.”

I think I like that idea.

Indeed, when traveling with Princess Cruises and Holland America Line in Alaska, we found that there are places where connecting is difficult, if possible at all when off the ship in remote wilderness areas.  Taking advantage of that situation is the sort of thing that those constantly connected might dream of and one of the few times they can truly relax.

The luxurious surroundings, gourmet cuisine, and exceptional personalized service is further enhanced by the jaw-dropping scenery; the perfect distraction from a hectic lifestyle. The only gadget you will need is a camera and extra batteries.
