According to a press release from Escape Adventures, Southern Utah’s Aquarius Trail Hut System is redefining backcountry group adventures by creating a seamlessly inclusive, 190-mile hut-to-hut cycling experience. Stretching across the breathtaking landscapes of Dixie National Forest and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, the trail solves the common challenge of mixed-ability group travel by welcoming standard mountain bikers, gravel grinders, and e-bike riders on the same journey.

The system features five eco-chic, solar-powered huts constructed from repurposed shipping containers tucked deep into Utah’s Color Country. Crucially, these off-grid accommodations include dedicated charging stations for e-bikes, allowing adaptive cyclists and riders wanting electrical assistance to tackle the trail’s 17,000+ feet of total elevation gain alongside purist singletrack riders. The varied terrain caters to diverse preferences, offering technical descents like Bunker Creek for mountain bikers alongside smooth doubletrack and high-alpine gravel roads for distance riders.
By eliminating the burden of carrying 40 pounds of heavy camping and cooking gear, the Aquarius Trail removes the intimidation factor often associated with multi-day bikepacking. At the end of each rewarding 25-to-40-mile daily leg, riders meet at the same comfortable hut to enjoy fully stocked kitchens, cold beverages, fire pits, and real beds beneath some of North America’s darkest night skies. Founder Jared Fisher notes that the real magic lies in bringing diverse groups together, enabling multi-generational families and friends of varying fitness levels to share an unforgettable wilderness escape.
