United Airlines has expanded its popular Economy fresh food preorder program to include shorter flight routes, providing up to 65,000 more passengers each day with access to convenient, time-saving dining choices. By reducing the qualifying flight distance threshold from over 1,190 miles down to over 900 miles, the carrier has added roughly 420 daily flights across North America and the Caribbean. This expansion brings hot meal preorder options to prominent routes, including hub-to-hub connections like Chicago to Houston, Denver to San Francisco, and Houston to Washington, D.C.

Through the United mobile app or the airline’s website, travelers in United Economy can browse and secure their preferred meals between five days and 24 hours prior to departure. The rotating Bistro on Board menu offers a diverse array of fresh breakfast and lunch selections. Current highlights feature items such as a pork mojo burrito, a Chicago patty melt crafted in partnership with chef Jeff Mauro, a hot honey chicken and waffle sandwich, and a cinnamon apple waffle, alongside the carrier’s traditional snackboxes.
This culinary initiative forms part of United’s extensive nose-to-tail passenger experience investments. Along with expanded dining, the airline continues outfitting its fleet with gate-to-gate Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, which is free for MileagePlus members and fully active on regional planes and over 280 mainline jets. Onboard entertainment is further bolstered by live television streaming, including sports programming on TBS, ABC, CBS, and ESPN, paired with new 4K OLED seatback monitors. Beginning in November, travelers can also enjoy refreshed options inside the Tapas, Takeoff, and Recline snackboxes, accompanied by a special Make-A-Wish collaboration box.
