British luxury brand Cunard has officially announced a comprehensive, stunning refurbishment of its legendary flagship, Queen Mary 2, ushering in an exciting new era for the world’s only true ocean liner. Entering dry dock at Damen Shiprepair Brest in France on March 31, 2027, the historic vessel will undergo an extensive multi-week transformation before returning to active ocean service on May 9, 2027. This dedicated investment ensures that the celebrated vessel continues to define modern Transatlantic glamour, comfort, and seafaring excellence for generations to come.

The revitalized design will introduce thirty-one brand-new accommodations, consisting of sixteen Princess Grill Suites alongside fifteen Britannia staterooms. Across all existing Grill Suites, guests will enjoy entirely refreshed furnishings, elegant interior finishes, and newly designed bathrooms featuring spa-inspired appointments. The exclusive Queens Grill and Princess Grill dining venues will likewise be refined to maintain their hallmark culinary prestige. In addition, the ship’s celebrated pet kennels, the only dedicated kennel facility at sea, will expand with increased capacity, a redesigned owners’ lounge, and an enlarged outdoor walking promenade.

Shipboard wellness and entertainment will also reach new heights. Mareel Wellness and Beauty is slated for an expansive redesign, accompanied by a fresh collection of upscale boutique shops. Illuminations, the largest planetarium at sea, will receive cutting-edge digital upgrades to immerse audiences in awe-inspiring visual journeys. Directed by original ship designer Chris Finch with artistic visual interpretations by acclaimed illustrator Tanu Vasu, the project seamlessly marries golden-age Hollywood style with timeless British tradition, celebrating this magnificent queen of the seas.
