Impressive: Cruise Line To Make Pasta Onboard

Holland America Line has updated the menu at its Italian restaurant, Canaletto. The new menu features fresh pasta made on board, along with a variety of authentic Italian dishes. As a veteran of the Olive Garden back in the days when they had gigantic pasta extruders in each location, that’s not easy to do for hundreds of people. I’m going to need to see this with my own eyes…but that’s just another reason to travel so…bring it on Rudy!

Small plates include antipasto, veal and sage meatballs, burrata, Canaletto salad, and grilled tiger shrimp. Entrée options include casarecce (short pasta) pesto Genovese, Italian sausage paccheri (pasta shaped in a long tube), seared Mediterranean seabass and mussels, scallop and calamari trenette, Chianti-braised beef short rib, and herb and Parmesan crusted chicken breast. Desserts include tiramisu, lemon ricotta baked cheesecake, chocolate hazelnut tart, affogato, and a trio of gelato. Cocktails include Aperol Spritz, Spumoni, Tuscan Lemon Drop, and Canaletto Bellini.

Dinner at Canaletto is a $25 surcharge per person or included as a specialty dining option under the “Have it All” package.

The updated Canaletto menu offers a variety of delicious Italian dishes, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re looking for a small plate to share or a hearty main course, Canaletto has something to satisfy your appetite.
