Fighting The Virus: 10 Things I Am Doing Now

The Twitter version: Staying inside helps the world. Making inside safe helps you. Good news: we can do both successfully.

As I write this 97% of the United States is on lockdown. Keep it that way and the Coronavirus eventually plays itself out. It has been said. No guarantees here. For sure: by staying inside, we buy precious time for testing and the development of treatment.

Here are elements of what I am currently doing to stay safe. If I died, it did not work.

  1. Ozium is an air sanitizer that works wonders in many applications. Don’t go crazy spraying this. A quick shot in the center of a room does it. Glade is an (impotent) air freshener.
  2. Bleach Water is an old restaurant trick. A capful of Clorox to a gallon of water should do it. Just a bit. I mist spray it everywhere bleach can be tolerated.
  3. Hand Sanitizer– If you run out you can make it with alcohol and scented Aloe Vera gel. I like it better. Google it.
  4. Food Temps- Hot things hot and cold things cold destroys the virus. Otherwise you are eating it. See image.
  5. Outside Clothes, Inside- Outside for a walk is encouraged. Lose the clothes worn outside at the front door. Shoes as well. If you rolled around on the ground in undergarments, those too.
  6. Pink Lanolin Hand Soap- the cheap stuff if you can find it at the grocery store. Not so important the color but the time spent scrubbing hands. Pink also brings a lustrous shine to rings, finger baubles
  7. Shipt- You order, they shop and deliver, touch-free if you prefer. You do.
  8. Water Delivery- Crystal, Culligan, whoever is local in five gallon bottles is a good choice. Many have designer attributes. I like the Fluoride version. Good for teeth. Spray bottles with #2 on receipt.
  9. Complete Meal Delivery– There are a bunch of them and most are a good choice- fully prepared and fresh to use in a week or so. Trying Fresh & Lean at this time. The “lean” element comes from tasting like poo and not the bear. Fresh is assumed.
  10. PPE – Mainly masks & gloves unless you’re all excited about the full hazmat outfit. Order on Amazon and don’t get too disappointed in the expected delivery date. Mine came early.
