Dunton Hot Springs, a Relais & Chateaux property located in a restored 19th-century Colorado mining town, has finalized a multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation. This phased project spanned three years and focused on modernizing the resort’s iconic structures while maintaining the historic character that defines the property. The restoration was led by the London-based design firm Waldo Works alongside the resort’s internal design team.

A primary focus of the renovation was the communal Saloon and Dance Hall. These spaces were updated with a new culinary-centered design featuring a custom Molteni range to allow for more interactive dining experiences. While modern lighting and handcrafted materials were added, the resort intentionally preserved the original bar, which features the historic signature of Butch Cassidy.

The project also involved significant updates to individual guest accommodations. Chuck’s Cabin, a 130-year-old original mining structure, was meticulously restored as a 1,620-square-foot, four-bedroom residence featuring wide-plank oak floors and a wood-burning stove. The Major Ross Cabin was reimagined with contemporary sculptural lighting and textured fabrics to blend frontier heritage with modern luxury. Additionally, the Well House cabin received essential infrastructure upgrades to its private on-demand hot spring and cold plunge systems to ensure a more seamless guest experience.

The final phase of the transformation concluded with a refresh of the Potter House. As one of the largest units on the property, it now features updated bathrooms and soft goods designed to accommodate multi-generational families and creative retreats. These updates mark a new era for Dunton Hot Springs, emphasizing a commitment to craftsmanship and authenticity. The resort continues to offer a luxury experience rooted in the natural beauty of the Colorado Rockies, supported by high-end culinary programs and its own local vineyard.
