Carnival Rescues People Stranded On Small Boat

Carnival Spirit rescued 24 people who were stranded on a small boat in the Caribbean on Tuesday. The ship was sailing toward Aruba when it spotted the group in distress. The crew brought all 24 people to safety and checked them over by medical personnel. The ship then contacted Coast Guard officials to coordinate a transfer.

The Coast Guard cutter arrived at 3 p.m. and took the people to La Romana, Dominican Republic. Carnival Spirit then resumed its voyage. The ship had no scheduled stops on Tuesday and its visit to Aruba on Wednesday will be as scheduled. It departed PortMiami on a week-long cruise on April 8 and will return on April 15.
