What a fantastic milestone! Port Canaveral and Carnival Cruise Line are celebrating an incredible 35 years of partnership, fun, and sailing from Florida’s Space Coast. The momentous occasion was commemorated with a special celebration aboard the spectacular Mardi Gras at Cruise Terminal 3, which was custom-built by the Port to host Carnival’s Excel Class ships. This long-standing relationship has been a cornerstone of Central Florida’s tourism, growing from the first sailing of the Carnivale in 1990 to an amazing 2.4 million passenger movements annually today.

Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral’s CEO, praised the partnership as their “longest continuous cruise business relationship,” highlighting the immense economic value it has brought to the Port community and the entire region over the decades.

The future looks even brighter! Carnival recently announced that it will expand its presence at the Port by homeporting its fourth Excel Class ship, the LNG-powered Carnival Festivale, starting in 2027. This exciting growth continues next month with the grand opening of Celebration Key, Carnival’s exclusive new destination on Grand Bahama, which will be a “game-changer” according to Carnival President Christine Duffy.

To mark the 35-year anniversary, Carnival hosted a wonderful onboard celebration with community leaders and partners. In a heartwarming gesture coinciding with World Ocean Day weekend, the cruise line announced the donation of a hybrid pickup truck to Keep Brevard Beautiful, supporting the vital work of the local environmental conservation organization. This celebration not only honors a remarkable past but also looks forward to a future filled with even more fun, growth, and community support.
