Carnival Invites Scrutiny Of Sustainability Efforts

Carnival Cruise Line and the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association (TCHTA) partnered to host an environmental ship tour aboard Mardi Gras for students and government leaders. The tour highlighted the cruise line’s sustainability efforts, including its use of liquefied natural gas (LNG), recycling program, and food waste reduction initiatives.

  • Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG): LNG is a cleaner-burning fuel than traditional marine fuels, and Carnival Cruise Line is the only cruise line in the world to operate a fleet of LNG-powered ships.
  • Recycling Program: Carnival Cruise Line has a comprehensive recycling program that includes recycling of paper, plastic, metal, glass, and electronics. Last year, the cruise line recycled 11 million pounds of recyclables fleetwide.
  • Food Waste Reduction Initiatives: Carnival Cruise Line has a number of initiatives in place to reduce food waste, including composting, donating food to local food banks, and using food digestors to break down food waste.

The tour was a great opportunity for students and government leaders to learn about Carnival Cruise Line’s sustainability efforts and how the cruise line is working to protect the environment.

Carnival Corporation, the parent company of Carnival Cruise Line, recently released its latest sustainability report. The full report is available on the company’s sustainability website at http://www.carnivalsustainability.com.
