American Airlines is ushering in a sophisticated new era of premium long-haul travel by unveiling its first retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER featuring its cutting-edge Flagship Suites. The Fort Worth-based carrier’s largest widebody aircraft completed an extensive interior transformation in Hong Kong, marking the third aircraft type in American’s fleet to receive the upscale cabin design following debuts on select Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and Airbus A321XLR jets. The revamped aircraft entered commercial service on September 2, 2026, flying between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires.

The refreshed widebody aircraft delivers more premium seating than any other carrier in the United States, offering 114 high-end seats across its business and premium economy sections. The forward cabin boasts 70 lie-flat Flagship Suite seats in a 1-2-1 layout, each featuring sliding privacy doors, dedicated storage compartments, and versatile chaise lounge seating positions. Eight front-row seats are branded as Flagship Suite Preferred, providing up to 19 percent more bed space and 42 percent more personal living area. In addition, the redesigned Premium Economy cabin has expanded to 44 seats featuring sculpted headrests, adjustable leg rests, and wireless device charging.
This retrofit represents the retirement of international Flagship First, consolidating the front cabin into a single luxury Flagship experience. All 70 premium suite travelers receive priority airport services, expanded lounge access, chef-curated dining, and fine wine pairings. Passengers across every cabin enjoy Bluetooth-enabled 4K entertainment screens and free high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T. With plans to retrofit all twenty of its 777-300ERs, American Airlines is setting a high bar for transatlantic and transpacific comfort.
