What a wonderful way to celebrate World Environment Day! Huna Totem Corporation (HTC), renowned for its breathtaking Alaska cruise destinations like the award-winning Icy Strait Point, today, June 5, 2025, announced an inspiring new partnership with Alaska Native-owned Kuuk Water. Together, they’re bringing sustainably sourced Alaska glacial water to guests in beautiful, resealable aluminum bottles, making a significant and positive impact on the environment and local communities.

This fantastic initiative will first delight guests at Icy Strait Point, with the first delivery of these special bottles expected by mid-June. The program will then expand to HTC’s other stunning destinations, Klawock Island and Chugach Glacier Gateway. The custom aluminum bottles, featuring an exclusive Tlingit design, are not just stylish but also incredibly eco-friendly. They are expected to eliminate an estimated 15,000 pounds of plastic at Icy Strait Point this year alone, as up to 300,000 of these reusable bottles (which can be refilled up to 10 times!) replace single-use plastics.

Russell Dick, HTC President and CEO, beautifully stated that this partnership is a “perfect example” of the corporation’s deep respect for the land, highlighting that they are “not only investing in and supporting a growing Alaska Native-owned business, but we are also eliminating thousands of pounds of plastic.” Kuuk Water, whose name means “river” in Iñupiaq, is passionately committed to providing ethical water options, uplifting Indigenous communities, and supporting vital water accessibility and youth wellness initiatives globally through its nonprofit arm, Kuugaq. Joe Warren, Kuuk Water President, expressed his joy in partnering with HTC to extend their positive impact to the millions of guests who visit Alaska annually. This collaboration is truly a celebration of sustainability, cultural heritage, and the pristine Alaskan environment!
