This figure represents a 50% increase over the past six years. As the market expands, price points have become increasingly diverse, ranging from several hundred dollars to over $10,000 per person for specialized destinations. To assist consumers in navigating these options, Consumer Reports conducted a survey of over 18,000 members, evaluating factors such as service quality, food, and overall value.

The survey findings revealed that only three cruise lines met the criteria for a formal recommendation. National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions achieved the highest satisfaction scores. This line operates small, expedition-style vessels focusing on scientific and educational exploration in regions like the Galápagos and Antarctica. Windstar Cruises also received high marks for its small ships and motor-sail yachts. The line is noted for providing a private-yacht atmosphere characterized by a high crew-to-guest ratio and a lack of formal dress codes.

Viking was the third line to be recommended, specifically catering to an adult-only demographic. Viking’s approach emphasizes cultural enrichment and lectures.
