Atlas Ocean Voyages has announced the development of its first expedition sailing yacht, the Atlas Adventurer, scheduled to debut in late 2028. This vessel marks a significant expansion for the cruise line, serving as the flagship of the new Atlas class. At 26,000 gross tons and 690 feet in length, the Adventurer will be considerably larger than the company’s current fleet of three ships. The yacht is designed with three carbon masts and solid sails, allowing for zero-emission operations under favorable wind and sea conditions. When wind power is insufficient, the ship will utilize hybrid-electric engines to comply with future environmental regulations and navigate restricted ports silently.

The construction of the Atlas Adventurer involves an investment of nearly $300 million. The ship is engineered with a Category C polar classification, enabling it to traverse open polar waters and light ice. This technical capability supports Atlas’s move into new geographic regions, specifically Asia and Africa. Planned destinations include Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Indonesia, alongside African locales such as the Seychelles, Madagascar, and South Africa. The onboard experience will be exclusively suite-based, supported by a crew of 275 members to serve up to 400 guests.
Onboard amenities are designed to reflect a boutique hospitality brand. The ship will feature seven dining venues, five bars, and a significant focus on wellness with an expanded fitness center. Unique additions include an educational culinary studio and a marina platform equipped with an ocean pool, Zodiacs, and luxury motorboats for guest exploration. This announcement coincides with a broader rebranding effort for Atlas Ocean Voyages, which includes a new logo and an expanded global sales team. Interested travelers can currently secure early access for the inaugural season with a $2,000 deposit.
