Oceania Cruises, renowned for its culinary and destination-focused voyages, marked a significant milestone on June 4, 2025, with the ceremonial steel cutting for Oceania Sonata™. This event, held at the Fincantieri-Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy, signifies the official start of construction for the first ship in the cruise line’s revolutionary new Sonata Class. Scheduled to debut in 2027, Oceania Sonata will be followed by her sister ship, Oceania Arietta™.

These groundbreaking Sonata Class vessels are poised to be the most spacious and amenity-rich in Oceania’s fleet, further enhancing the brand’s legacy of exceptional small-ship luxury experiences. They are designed to continue Oceania Cruises’ commitment to culinary excellence and destination-rich itineraries.

Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, stated that “Oceania Sonata heralds the dawn of a new era in luxury cruising,” and praised the enduring, nearly 20-year partnership with Fincantieri.

Oceania Sonata, which will be the ninth ship in the Oceania Cruises fleet, is set to embark on her maiden voyage in the summer of 2027. The cruise line describes her as a “masterpiece of design, created to deliver a symphony of unforgettable experiences.”

This development also underscores the strong collaboration between Oceania Cruises and Fincantieri, the acclaimed Italian shipbuilder responsible for celebrated vessels like Oceania Marina™, Oceania Riviera™, Oceania Vista®, and Oceania Allura™, which is slated to debut in July 2025. The new Sonata Class represents the next stage in the evolution of Oceania Cruises, promising refined luxury and Italian craftsmanship at sea.
