Maritime Safety Takes A Giant Leap Forward

  • MARSS, a global technology leader, successfully completed the final and most demanding Phase 3 of ISO 21195 testing
  • The system achieved a perfect 100 percent detection rate during live trials
  • False alarms were kept to a remarkably low average of 0.45 per day
  • The technology provides instant alerts and GPS data to speed up rescue operations

MARSS has achieved a monumental breakthrough in maritime safety by successfully completing the rigorous Phase 3 testing of the ISO 21195 standard for its MOBtronic man-overboard detection system. This accomplishment marks the final and most challenging step in the international certification process, solidifying MOBtronic as a premier solution for protecting passengers and crew at sea. The comprehensive testing took place on an operational vessel in the Mediterranean over a continuous ninety-day period, proving the system’s reliability and robustness under real-world conditions.

During this extensive assessment, the technology delivered flawless performance, achieving a perfect one hundred percent detection rate across more than one hundred controlled test launches. This result significantly exceeds the industry minimum requirement of ninety-five percent, showcasing the system’s superior capability. Furthermore, MOBtronic demonstrated exceptional accuracy with a false alarm rate of just 0.45 per day, well below the allowable threshold, ensuring that crew members are not distracted by false alerts from birds or weather.

This innovation offers a vital layer of protection by detecting incidents within seconds and providing the bridge with instant video replays and precise GPS coordinates. This immediate data allows for rapid search and rescue operations, greatly increasing the chances of saving lives. With over a decade of dedicated research and development behind it, MARSS is now poised to support the global cruise and shipping industries in adopting this life-saving technology, making the oceans safer for travelers everywhere.
