JetBlue and United Airlines today, May 29, 2025, announced “Blue Sky,” a significant and unique collaboration designed to offer customers expanded flight options and enhanced loyalty program benefits across both airlines. This multifaceted agreement aims to provide more value and convenience for travelers, leveraging the complementary strengths of JetBlue’s East Coast and Caribbean network and United’s extensive domestic and global reach.

Central to the “Blue Sky” initiative is the integration of their loyalty programs. Starting as early as this fall (subject to regulatory review), United’s MileagePlus members will be able to earn and use miles on most JetBlue flights, including numerous routes to Caribbean destinations like Aruba and Barbados.

Conversely, JetBlue’s TrueBlue members can earn and use points for travel on United’s vast network, which includes popular international destinations such as Cape Town and Tahiti. Furthermore, elite benefits from each airline’s loyalty program—like priority boarding, complimentary access to preferred and extra legroom seats, and same-day standby/switch privileges—will be reciprocally available when customers travel on either carrier.

To simplify booking, each airline will offer flights on the other’s website and app through an interline agreement, meaning they will continue to market flights independently under their own brands. Operationally, JetBlue will provide United access to slots at JFK International Airport for up to seven daily round-trip flights starting as early as 2027, while the airlines will also exchange eight flight timings at Newark Liberty International Airport in a net-neutral arrangement.

The collaboration extends to technology and ancillary services. United will transition its website and app’s capability to sell hotels, rental cars, cruises, and travel insurance to new technology and services provided by JetBlue’s Paisly platform. Additionally, JetBlue is expected to be the first partner airline to deploy Kinective Media by United Airlines, a new traveler media network for personalized advertising.

Both JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty and United CEO Scott Kirby emphasized that this collaboration is a customer-focused step forward, offering more choices and value. While corporate program benefits may also see some reciprocal extensions, both airlines will continue to manage and price their networks independently. More details on the timing of reciprocal benefits will be announced later this year.
