The Imperial Hotel, Kyoto, is scheduled to open on March 5, 2026, with reservations officially commencing on November 17, 2025. This launch is a significant event for the esteemed brand, as it marks its first new property debut in three decades. The hotel is strategically situated in the heart of Kyoto’s historic Gion district and has secured membership in The Leading Hotels of the World.

The project involves the thoughtful reimagining of the 90-year-old Yasaka Kaikan, which holds designation as a nationally registered Tangible Cultural Property. The design successfully blends cultural preservation with contemporary luxury, retaining original architectural elements in the Heritage section while introducing modern sensibilities.
The hotel will feature 55 guest rooms across five categories, with Signature Suites ranging up to 1,377 square feet and offering sweeping views of Gion’s lantern-lit streets. A notable design element is the introduction of tatami flooring in the North Wing rooms, marking the first time the Imperial Hotel brand has used this traditional feature, ensuring harmony with the surrounding traditional streetscape. Beyond accommodation, the hotel will offer multiple restaurants, a bar, and extensive wellness facilities, including a spa, swimming pool, and fitness gym, promising guests a sophisticated blend of Japanese tradition and high-standard comfort.
