  • Infrastructure and Reception: Ha Long International Cruise Port and Van Don International Airport are implementing international-standard models to handle the surge in luxury arrivals.
  • Economic Impact: The province projects tourism revenue to reach at least 65 trillion VND as part of its goal to become a world-class tourism center.

Quang Ninh province has experienced a significant increase in tourism during the early days of the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet). On the first day of the holiday, the Ha Long International Cruise Port welcomed over 4,500 travelers, including international visitors arriving on luxury vessels such as the Seabourn Encore and Piano Land. This influx is viewed by regional authorities as a strong start to a year they anticipate will serve as a breakthrough for the province’s tourism sector. In addition to maritime arrivals, the Van Don International Airport is scheduled to receive private charter flights carrying business delegations, further establishing the region as a high-end travel hub.

The province has diversified its tourism products to include culturally rooted experiences that appeal to both domestic and international markets. Visitors have participated in themed city tours, visits to the Quang Ninh Museum, and excursions to spiritual sites like the Long Tien Pagoda. To differentiate its offerings, the region has also reintroduced traditional elements, such as wooden boats with crimson sails that recreate historical scenes on Ha Long Bay. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to preserve local heritage while meeting international service standards.

For the 2026 season, local authorities have set ambitious targets, aiming to attract 22 million total visitors, including 5.2 million international arrivals. The Ha Long International Cruise Port alone expects approximately 100 cruise calls and over 130,000 international passengers throughout the year. To support this growth, there is a focus on upgrading infrastructure and professionalizing reception services. This integrated approach, combining sea and air arrivals with modernized cultural attractions, is intended to solidify Quang Ninh’s standing as a premier destination for luxury and heritage-based tourism on the global map.
