Floridians are demonstrating a proactive approach to holiday travel arrangements this year, according to recent survey data compiled by AAA. This foresight aims to mitigate potential stress associated with last-minute bookings and secure optimal value. AAA emphasizes the benefits of finalizing travel plans well in advance, ideally before the close of October, to access better pricing and availability. The survey indicates that over half of Floridians, approximately 59, intend to undertake at least one overnight trip during the 2025 holiday season. Specific travel intentions reveal that 76 plan to travel for Christmas, 67 for Thanksgiving, and 56 for New Year’s Eve. A significant portion, 30, of Floridians are also planning more holiday vacations this year compared to the previous one, with 49 expecting to maintain their travel frequency.

Thanksgiving travel trends show that 58 of Floridian travelers had already completed their arrangements by the end of September, with the majority, 85, anticipated to finalize plans by the end of October. Only 14 foresee waiting until November. Peak travel days for Thanksgiving are identified as Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday. For Christmas, nearly half of travelers will finalize plans in October or November, with only 11 waiting until December. Given Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, increased airport congestion is expected the weekend prior and early in that week. AAA recommends strategies such as booking early for nonstop flights, choosing morning departures, and building in buffer time for potential delays.
