Celebrity River Cruises has announced a significant expansion of its fleet and operations, signaling a major commitment to the European river cruising market. The company recently confirmed plans to build ten additional ships, with the goal of doubling its fleet to twenty vessels by 2031. As part of this growth, the cruise line revealed the names of three new ships scheduled to debut in 2028: Celebrity Wanderer, Celebrity Roamer, and Celebrity Boundless. These will join the previously announced Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker, bringing the total number of operational vessels to five for the 2028 season.

The 2028 itineraries are now open for booking, covering a period from March through December. This season marks a substantial increase in destination offerings, with an 80 percent increase in locations compared to the 2027 inaugural season. The expansion introduces 24 new ports of call, including Lower Danube routes departing from Bucharest and seasonal Dutch Tulip cruises between Brussels and Amsterdam. The schedule also includes six-night journeys between Vienna and Nuremberg, as well as classic Rhine and Upper Danube sailings. Special event itineraries will also be featured, such as voyages coinciding with Germany’s Gäuboden Festival and traditional Christmas Market cruises in December.

The decision to accelerate fleet growth follows the high demand seen during the 2027 season launch, which the company reported sold out almost immediately upon release. While the company noted the 2027 sell-out in previous statements, recent updates indicate that limited availability may still exist for those inaugural sailings. By significantly increasing its capacity and geographic reach, Celebrity River Cruises aims to bring its established brand of service and hospitality to a broader range of European waterways, providing more than 160 distinct itineraries for travelers in 2028.
