American Airlines is making a significant investment in the travel experience at its Miami hub, announcing exciting plans to build a brand-new Flagship Lounge and expand its Admirals Club lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA). This ambitious project will nearly double the amount of lounge space available, offering customers a beautifully enhanced environment to relax and recharge.

This development underscores American’s 35-year legacy as Miami’s hometown airline and its commitment to the city as its largest international gateway. The new lounges will be thoughtfully curated with style, comfort, and function in mind, creating a modern hospitality destination. Drawing inspiration from its recently opened Philadelphia lounges, the new Miami spaces will feature distinct zones or “neighborhoods.” These areas will include comfortable seating for relaxation, bar and dining areas for connection, and private “Villas” with spa-style showers and workstations for a quiet reset.

Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, and Juan Carlos Liscano, Vice President of MIA Operations, both highlighted the strong partnership with airport and county officials that made this expansion possible. The new lounges will provide premium amenities, including champagne greetings and locally inspired menus in the Flagship Lounge, enhancing the journey for the more than 30 million customers who travel through MIA with American annually. This investment aligns perfectly with the airline’s record-breaking summer schedule from Miami, solidifying its commitment to providing a world-class travel experience.
