Delta Air Lines is launching new seasonal nonstop flights from Detroit and Seattle to Albuquerque to coincide with the 53rd Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Airport officials announced Friday that these flights will operate on October 3, 5, 10, and 12, 2025. This initiative reflects the growing demand for the visually stunning event, according to Daniel Jiron, the Albuquerque International Sunport’s business development manager, who looks forward to welcoming travelers from these new cities.

Beyond the new Detroit and Seattle routes, Delta is significantly increasing its service to Albuquerque during the Fiesta. The airline will add a fourth daily flight from Atlanta, supplementing its usual three daily flights.

For the second consecutive year, Delta will also bring back a seasonal nonstop flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, operating on the same October dates as the new services. Furthermore, to accommodate more passengers, Delta will use a larger aircraft for its existing flight from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.

Other airlines are also boosting their capacity for the popular event. American Airlines and Southwest Airlines will increase the frequency of their flights from Phoenix and Dallas. Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller praised Delta’s new nonstop flights, stating they will make it easier for people to join the celebration.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from across the globe; a study of the previous year’s event indicated that 611,986 guests attended from outside New Mexico, representing 46 states. These expanded air travel options are poised to facilitate even greater attendance for the upcoming Fiesta.
