Holland America European Cruise Adventures Expand

  • Northern Europe Fleet Expansion: Holland America Line is increasing its presence in Northern Europe for the 2027 season by adding a third ship, Zuiderdam, which will join Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam, offering more opportunities to explore popular destinations like Scandinavia, Iceland, and the British Isles.
  • Diverse Itinerary Offerings: The 2027 season includes a wide array of itineraries, from fjord-intensive cruises in Norway and Iceland and “Viking Homelands” itineraries in Northern Europe to comprehensive Mediterranean voyages. Unique experiences also include the returning “Voyage of the Vikings” and new solar eclipse and Northern Lights themed cruises.
  • Emphasis on European Heritage and Onboard Experience: The cruise line highlights its Dutch roots and European expertise through onboard features like the “Dutch Touch,” regionally inspired cuisine, curated European cocktails, expert presentations, and local entertainment, aiming for an authentic regional experience.
  • Strategic Deployment and Booking Incentives: The 2027 season features departures from 11 cities, including new options from Reykjavik and a return to Dover. Holland America Line is promoting early bookings with its “Have It All” premium package and special onboard credits for Mariner Society members.

Holland America Line is significantly boosting its Northern Europe cruise offerings for 2027 by adding a third ship, Zuiderdam, to the region. This expansion caters to the high demand from guests eager to explore Scandinavia, Greenland, the Baltics, and the British Isles. Zuiderdam will operate out of Amsterdam, while Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam will continue to homeport in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Both Zuiderdam and Rotterdam will also feature departures from Reykjavik, Iceland, and Nieuw Statendam will reinstate Dover, England, as a homeport for select itineraries. Concurrently, Oosterdam will remain dedicated to Mediterranean cruises.

The decision to expand stems from strong guest interest in Northern Europe, particularly its scenic fjords, and aligns with Holland America Line’s deep European heritage, which is reflected in the authentic onboard experience. This “Dutch Touch” includes classic design elements, a “Dutch Day” celebration, locally sourced regional cuisine, and exclusive European cocktails curated by Dutch bartender Tess Posthumus. Guests can also engage in “Up Close” presentations and enjoy local entertainment.

Beyond Northern Europe, the 2027 Mediterranean season will see Oosterdam offering 14 distinct itineraries (seven to 11 days) and Nieuw Statendam providing three longer voyages (14 or 15 days). These cruises will depart from key ports such as Barcelona, Piraeus (Athens), Trieste (Venice), and Civitavecchia (Rome), visiting a total of 54 ports.

Notably, the 2027 season will introduce special themed cruises, including voyages positioned for viewing a total solar eclipse and others designed for Northern Lights sightings, complete with expert lectures and wake-up calls for aurora displays. The popular 35-day “Voyage of the Vikings” aboard Volendam, sailing roundtrip from Boston, will also return. Holland America Line is offering a “Have It All” early booking bonus with added amenities and an exclusive Mariner Society Early Booking Bonus for loyalty members.

Guests can also take advantage of Holland America Line’s Exclusive Mariner Society Early Booking Bonus. Mariner Society loyalty members can enjoy up to $400 onboard credit per stateroom when these cruises open for sale. Guests must book these cruises by Aug. 27, 2025, to receive the Exclusive Mariner Society Early Booking Bonus.
