This milestone marks an impressive 18 percent increase compared to the 259 properties launched across Europe the previous year, underscoring resilient developer confidence and strong traveler demand.

This continental expansion is being powered primarily by historic growth in the luxury and upscale lodging categories. High-end hotel developments have reached record highs, representing nearly 900 active projects across Europe and outpacing the midscale segment, which accounts for just under 500 properties. Following a successful first half of the year that saw 112 properties debut with nearly 14,000 rooms, the second half of 2026 will accelerate further with an estimated 195 hotel openings providing roughly 26,000 additional guest rooms.
