Antalya Airport Launches Advanced Air Traffic System

  • Antalya Airport is the first in Türkiye to integrate its air traffic control with the European network.
  • The system allows for real-time exchange of critical data like pushback and departure sequences.
  • The implementation shifts operations toward dynamic, data-based management to improve efficiency.
  • Expansion plans are already in place for similar advanced systems at other major Turkish airports.

Antalya Airport has officially launched a sophisticated new air traffic control system, marking a significant milestone for aviation in Türkiye. As of May 18, 2026, the facility has integrated an advanced air traffic control tower concept that connects directly to the European air traffic network. This innovative implementation signifies a major technological shift from traditional flight planning to a dynamic, data-driven management approach.

By utilizing business-to-business messaging, the airport can now share real-time operational data with the EUROCONTROL Network Manager. This includes precise updates on pushback procedures, taxiing processes, runway utilization, and departure sequences. Such seamless information exchange enhances accuracy, helping ground and air operations run with greater efficiency. The integration is particularly beneficial for managing the high volume of traffic experienced during the busy summer season, as it allows for more effective coordination and improved flow management.

The project is the result of intensive collaboration between the General Directorate of State Airports Authority and the EUROCONTROL Network Manager. Beyond the technical upgrades, this advancement strengthens the national infrastructure of Türkiye by integrating domestic and national electronic flight strip systems directly with European standards. As Antalya continues to serve as a primary gateway for international tourism, these improvements ensure the airport remains at the forefront of modern aviation capabilities. Looking ahead, authorities intend to expand this advanced certification to other major hubs in the country, including Ankara Esenboga Airport and Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, further cementing the nation’s position in global air traffic management.
