AmaWaterways has announced a significant expansion of its Africa Safaris & Wildlife Cruise program, introducing four new itineraries that will debut in August 2026. The new journeys combine a luxurious three-night cruise aboard the intimate, 24-passenger Zambezi Queen on the Chobe River with extensive land programs across Southern and Eastern Africa.

The new offerings, which range from 9 to 18 nights, include From the Cape to the Falls, Iconic Africa, Classic Kenya & Southern Africa, and African Wonders & the Skeleton Coast. These itineraries introduce several highly sought-after destinations to AmaWaterways’ portfolio, such as Kenya (featuring Amboseli and Maasai Mara reserves), Namibia (including the NamibRand Nature Reserve and the dramatic Skeleton Coast), and Zanzibar. The Iconic Africa journey specifically features a three-night stay in Greater Kruger National Park, home to the “Big Five.”
The Zambezi Queen, which remains central to each itinerary, is designed for up-close wildlife viewing and is noted for its sustainable features, including solar heating and low-emission generators. AmaWaterways CEO Catherine Powell emphasized that the expansion provides more opportunities for guests to experience the continent’s diverse cultures and landscapes in comfort and style, while simultaneously supporting local communities through sustainable tourism practices.
